Health Inequity in Women
Why does heart disease affect women more than men?
Heart disease is the major cause of death in the United States, and it is the cause one of every four deaths. Heart disease is caused by the coronary arteries being clogged by plaque which restricts oxygen from getting to the blood. Heart disease was previously thought to only have been found in men, but researchers have recently found women are also affected by this disease and often times more than men. Heart disease can also be caused by physical inactivity, smoking, secondhand smoke, diabetes and many more environmental factors that will clog the arteries. The disease could also be affected by genetic factor such as the LDLR gene which controls the amount of cholesterol found in the blood. The drastic differences in treatment and health found in women who have heart disease are caused by inadequate care, different symptoms and misguided belief that CVD is mainly a man’s disease.

How race places a role in Heart Disease
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among many countries. There are many factors that contribute in the making of heart disease and the most effective one is race. In the world there has always been differences in race and people have been treated differently because of it. When race plays a role in your health it is unfair for some because they are in danger and at a greater risk than others. In this essay you will see how race plays a huge role in heart disease and how unfair people can be affected because of who they are. You will also learn how environments and genetics tie in with race and heart disease. -Cristal J.
